Andrew Copegog, Fitness and Recreation Coordinator, and Alisha Cass, Fitness and Recreation Programmer jointly deliver the Fitness and Recreation Program.

Between both individuals they work as a team to ensure that physical and recreation activities is a priority in the daily life of all community members.

The purpose of the Fitness and Recreation Program is to plan, implement and evaluate appropriate programming. Their primary point of focus will be on implementing recommendations contained within the Beausoleil First Nation Physical Activity Strategy as well as other strategies adopted by the Beausoleil First Nation and the Beausoleil Family Health Centre.

Activities delivered to date include:

  • Annual Sports Banquet
  • Athlete personal training and coaching for Ontario Aboriginal Summer Games (OASG) and the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG).
  • Coaching of intramural sports
  • Karate Lesson
  • Gymnastics Lesson
  • Coordination of annual Winterfest, and Thanksgiving Achievement Day
  • Summer Recreational Day Camp
  • Aerobics and Toning Classes
  • Assistance with the delivery of the Diabetes Prevention Elementary Curriculum
  • 10 000 Step Challenge
  • Wrestling Program
  • Supervised Fitness Hours
  • Community Physical Activity Information Nights, with professionals in the field
