BFHC Administration
Overall, the Beausoleil First Nation Health Manager is responsible for ensuring that aboriginal philosophies, worldviews and guiding principles are incorporated and implemented as a foundation for all health programs and services. Moreover, the Manager works part of a team to develop, implement and evaluate long and short term health programs for the Beausoleil First Nation community. In particular, the Health Manager will focus on the following:
- Facilitate Health Board / Band Council decision making and policy development through the development of policies, proposals, briefing notes and recommendations.
- Prepare and present regular reports to funding agencies, health board, Chief and Council and community.
- Maintain and develop professional competence and quality assurance through continuing education at the professional level, leadership level and the community level.
- Monitor and approve budgets/financial transactions, administrative procedures/workplans and ensure excellent customer service is maintained in a professional and effective manner.
- Lead, guide and mentor health centre staff, programs and services.
- Develop, implement and evaluate new programs and services while evolving and evaluating existing programs.
- Act in a supervisory capacity for all staff and ensure adherence to the Beausoleil First Nation Personnel Policies and Procedures.
- Network and liaise with political/treaty organizations, government agencies, other health agencies and services and other providers within the community.
- Develop and implement a communications strategy and/or public relations strategy.
- Promote community participation and community awareness of holistic health to members and individual clients as required.
- Ensure the safe-guarding of health information according to policy.
- Manage the health centre facility, capital requirements and other facilities.
- Prepare proposals, reports, communiqués, briefing notes and policy reviews.
- Participate on committees, boards or other internal bodies designed to increase the effectiveness of services.

- Development and Co-ordinator of the new ballfield and accessing funds for Christian Island outdoor rink

- Led a successful Tobacco Control program where 35 members quit smoking
- Assisted in accessing funds for new playgrounds for the community
- Sent 20 athletes to Denver, Colorado for the North American Indigenous Games in 2006. Our first ever!
