The Telemedicine Site is an ideal fit for Christian Island in our quest for improved health care. Now you can visit specialists and therapists right from the convenience of Christian Island. You can visit family members in the hospital or tune into educational sessions. It's your choice!

Our Telemedicine was established in 2005 with funding from Health Canada.

To use Telemedicine Site, you need to:

• Tell your physician that you wish to make an appointment through Telehealth with him or a specialist
• Just come by and get a referral form from Dagmar Sandy, Telemedicine Site Coordinator at the Health Centre and bring it back signed
• Next, we will do all the arranging

We provide access to Specialist and Family Physicians We reduce your travel time We help decrease your anxiety by explaining and educating you We provide services right here in our own community We'll even come to pick you up and remind you of your appointment

• Or visit family in hospitals or possible other communities

You can participate in video conferences right here at the Health Centre on issues that concern you such as:

• Diabetes Education Session
• Mental Health
• Prenatal Sessions
• Cancer, Stress or Education

These sessions are informative and taught by industry experts.

• It is point-to-point/multi-point connection (eg. you can meet with someone in Ottawa and be seen in real-time provided they have video conferencing capabilities).
• Via video are live sessions in which you talk directly to the other person(s)
• People can see you and you see them
• It is used for healthcare, education and training purposes.
